About

My arts practice is multidisciplinary, spanning painting, sculpture, and textiles.  Significantly influenced by my immediate environment and identity within, I explore recurring themes of home and habitat.

For the first part of my I life lived on England’s south coast in the county of Hampshire, where the New Forest meets the sea. Since 1994 my home has been in Mindarie on the West Coast of Australia, where suburbia meets the vast Indian Ocean.  Walking and drawing in this landscape and swimming in the ocean are an important part of my creative process, enabling feelings and experiences to permeate my work.

Paintings require careful rendering of gouache on paper, which often becomes a meditative process.  The constraints and possibilities of paper pulp inform the sculptural works, and the inclusion of organic matter provides a unique reference to time and place.  Working with this medium, and more recently recycled textiles fulfills a need to use materials that would otherwise be discarded, enabling a new life, whilst acknowledging their history.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts with majors in Visual Arts and Fashion from Edith Cowan University, and have work in public and private collections in Western Australia.
